Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand and is situated in the upper North Island.

What is Auckland famous for?
Auckland is famous for yachting hence the name 'City Of Sails'. It's the main commercial centre of New Zealand.
The Sky Tower is Auckland's famous landmark and was opened in August 1997. It stands at 328 metres (1,076-ft) and is the tallest building in the Southern hemisphere. It has breathtaking views of Auckland city, the harbour bridge and surrounding areas.
Auckland is surrounded by beaches which have stunning West and East coast scenery. The Waitakere ranges which is a genuine rain forest with a vast network of walking tracks is just half an hour out of central Auckland.

Take a city cruise of the harbour which can include trips to Waiheke Island, Rangitoto Island and Hauraki gulf.
Take in the fantastic 360 degree views of sprawling Auckland from the famous Auckland Sky Tower. Sky City Casino is in the same building if you want to chance your luck!
Visit the Waitakere ranges (rain forest) and stunning black sand west coast beaches which include Piha, Bethells and Muriwai (gannet colony).
Visit East Coast Bays white sand beaches especially Orewa beach which is the 'Gold Coast' of New Zealand. Fabulous swimming beaches. Pop into Silverdale factory outlet shops on the way for coffee and bargain shopping.
Auckland Museum, The Botanical Gardens and The Domain. Take a picnic basket in good weather.
Pick up designer gear with low price tags at one of the shopping outlets (Dress Mart, Silverdale Outlet Centre or Fox Outlet). An early rise is necessary if you want to catch a real bargain at an outdoor market. Avondale, Takapuna, Ponsonby or Otara are the main ones.
One Tree Hill in Cornwall Park and Mt Eden (extinct volcanos). Great views from the top of the hill!
City waterfront beaches to include Mission Bay, St Helliers and Kohimarama. Soak in the atmosphere over a cup of coffee in one of the many beachfront cafes. Visit Kelly Tarltons Underwater World.
Viaduct harbour. Entertainment, bars and restaurants. There's always something happening in 'The City Of Sails'.
